Soo my Hubs wants a ham for thanksgiving. Im thinking okay sure... I think I can pull off a ham. But then I started thinking about it and WTflip did I get myself into! I don't know any recipes or how long to cook it for? What goes good with a ham?Drinks? I know you can glaze it but what's the glaze made of and how do you glaze it and when? So I thought maybe since you all have been helpful in everything else..=) someone might shine some light! Thanks in advance!!

It's easy! All the directions you need will be on the package with the ham! If you get the ones that have the packet of glaze with them it's even easier. If not, grab some clove sticks (in the spice isle) and some brown sugar, butter and foil...have at it!

I normally do a Ham for christmas. There is glaze you can buy in the store or you can use strawberry Jam. Thats what I use. It should say on the package what temp the center must reach. I start it off with the jam on top and every hour to hour and a half I add a new coat. Im sure you will do great.

Ginger Ale and pineapple on our ham always. Just pour some Ginger Ale over the ham before cooking (like 2 cups or less) and baste throughout cooking time...and garnish the top with the pineapple slices. mmmmmmmm. I love ham. :)

I make my own glaze also. I use about a 1/4 cup frozen orange juice, 3 tablespoons honey. One good squeeze of mustard. About 1/8 of a cup of brown sugar. Mix it all together with one can of 7up. Then pout over the ham and bast as you cook.

Green Bean casserole is another very simple recipe, it's usually on the French's Fried Onion containers & Mushroom Soup containers. It's like a no brainer recipe! lol

ham is way easier than a turkey

KellyP --- 15 years ago -

its pretty much cooked you just have to heat it all the way through. Not all of them, you have to be careful and make sure you look for "FULLY COOKED" on the package.
