Have your hubby talk to his Command Financial Specialist and see if they can help.

proud wifey --- 14 years ago -

we have done that and it got us no where

Chaplains office if COC can't come through for you.
Otherwise, Cove House 108 E. Halstead in Cove if you live in Coryell County.

the pass couple weeks every company has been passing around the turkey thingy were you get everything for those who wanted it or needed it. I am surprised that the company did not help at all I would go to the chaplins office they would make sure there is something they can help you all out with or call acs they can point you in the right place also

Actually I called ACS about even knowing where a Thanksgiving dinner was they were clueless so don't count on them.

ACS at Hood never impressed me either
:(
Those baskets/vouchers go quick through the units. It depends on how many people the CFS already was aware of and it goes to them first in the Battalion, which really stinks because most who need it don't go flaunting it to Command and CFS before hand. It's not like you are requesting MAJOR help or an AER loan. They really need to do that differently :(

:( sorry they did that too you because I called them also and that is how i found out about the baskets/vouchers and also about fort hood club is having their thanksgiving dinner thingy (which is expensive i think)

try the churches listed on this page. the angle food ministry helps a lot of people. sometimes people by baskets just to donate to people in need. I use them on a regular basis because the profits go to a good cause.

thank you everyone i called and talked 2 a bunch of ppl and finally a chaplin said to come in they gave us a voucher for the commisary

Also, for anyone else in the same situation, or who just doesn't want to cook: You can call and find out which Dining Facilities will be open on Thanksgiving Day. It's only $3-4 for an adult to eat all they want...my infant and 2 year old were free. I ate at the DFAC with them at least once a week because it was a good healthy meal (with lots of options so we were guaranteed to have something for every person to eat), that I didn't have to cook or clean up after. And the cheapness was a big bonus too. :)

EVERYONE with an ID card (children included although they don't hold ID cards) is allowed to eat in the DFAC and most of them have high chairs--just ask for one. They're usually really supportive and helpful (big change for the Fort Hood usual attitude on post!).
