Are any of you, your kids, or husbands gluten free? Just wondering if you have found any good deals on gluten free products. I'm looking mostly for pastas and snack type foods. My 15 month old has started a gluten free diet and if you have ever looked at those foods you'd know how expensive they are!! A package of pasta is almost $5 and a box of 5 cereal bars is over $6. It's really hitting our food budget HARD. Anyway, any help would be appareciated! Thanks :)

Well, that are a lot of cheap gluten free foods that Americans are not used to and therefore don't buy.
For example millet and buckwheat. You can buy them at the asian market or online. Kids usually love millet. You can make it with milk and sugar like cereal or you can make it salty and use it as a side dish.
Same thing with buckwheat. I love eating buckwheat with chicken and meat.My husband hates it though, says it tastes like pencil shavings lol

There are tons of different variates of rice, that you can buy and dozens of different dishes you can make with it.
Try rice noodles instead of gluten free pasta. They're only $1.30 per pack
Rice cakes instead of cereal bars, cream of rice instead of hot cereal etc.
Corn meal is also a good option.

You also might want to check the prices on Amazon. You have to buy like 6 packs at a time, but it drops the price down a lot.

Thank you for those ideas. I'm still very very new to all this gluten free stuff so we're still experimenting.

Just went to the Commissary last night and there was a pretty big selection in all the grocery sections. Pastas, waffles etc. None of the prices were bad either. Good luck with your searching Rockin.
