My wife and I are considering going to Scott & White for the birth of our daughter in a few months and we're wondering if any of you have given birth there and what your experience was. She's adamantly against using Darnall again or using Metroplex.

Also, if you had co-pays/out of pocket expenses, how much did it end up costing you? We recognize that it'll probably cost us something, we just want to know how much... and you know how TriCare just loves to actually answer people's questions. Figured we'd ask here, too.

TIA.

I agree dont use metroplex or darnell. I LOVE scott and white and would go there again in a heartbeat. everyone is so friendly and there is nothing they wont do for you or your wife if you just ask :D (also the food there is pretty tasty lol) Also from what i hear the actual lnd rooms are HUGE compared to darnall. Someone on here said something about darnall being just tiny.. i literally had enough room to do a lap in my room (not that i would at 9 months lol) but you get the idea. free movies on demand for family and whomever while you guys hang out during labor, plenty of room for everyone who wants to stay. I had 3 people in my room plus about 15 doctors and nurses. The beds are amazing, and the nurse who helped me do my breathing was FANTASTIC!

I don't however know about the pay because medicaid covered everything for my pregnancy.

We paid 30.00 for my stay and we did a $50 co pay for our off post provider. I loved Scott and White except my baby didnt get one of the hug tags and it scared me but only just because she was in the NICU. The NICU staff was amazing. I got out the next day but my baby stayed almost a month. I did have an issue with them leaving me in the waitin room forever. My water had already been broken for about 45 minutes and I have kids quick so by time they actually decided to take me into the triage area I was a 6. I had my baby in less then 2 hours after my water broke. They got the anesthesiologist right away ( she was walking through the halls as I walked in) she came directly in and did my epidural. By time she finished I was a 10 and ready to go.I didnt even have time for the epidural to kick in. We had about 25 doctors flood into our room. Hubs said that all we needed was a keg to get the party started...lol. Other then that it was a good experience. I have had a child at Darnell too and I liked Scott and White better.

Thanks for your input.
We were able to get released from care at CRDAMC, still remain under Tricare Prime, AND choose our doctor and deliver at S&W. Very exciting.

Now, if we could just get a tour. They're always full, and my wife wants to know how big her TV will be! Ha!
