How painful is it?

Ich bin Batman --- 14 years ago -

Mine wasn't bad at all and I'm oh so chicken when it comes to the dentist. I honestly would rather have a root canal over a pulled tooth any day.

Tango wifey --- 14 years ago -

i have had 3, my first was great no problems, my second failed but still not bad, this last one hurt like hell bc she didnt give me any antibiotics prior i had it done last tuesday and this is the first day i havent had pain meds so it depends on the dr and how infected it is so i would get some antibiotics before i should of insisted on it. good luck

*Jamie* --- 14 years ago -

Why do you take antibiotics before? Mine isn't that infected.

Tango wifey --- 14 years ago -

well if its not then dont worry about it, i just know mine that i had the antibitoics before didnt hurt 1/1000th the amount this one did and still does.

I am very disappointed in United Concordia. I thought it would be very cheap since they are associated with the military and I am actually paying more now than with our dental insurance before my husband joined the military. They will not pay for IV sedation because none of my wisdom teeth are impacted. That is an extra $500 out of my pocket.

Just me! --- 14 years ago -

Yeah really all the insurance is good for is the cleanings. All of my wisdom teeth are impacted and they still want 800 out of my pocket to have them removed. They say I don't need to be sedated even tho they have to break them and remove them by pieces.

*Jamie* --- 14 years ago -

I need all four out at the same time and the final price is $725 if I want to be sedated. I am trying to get the credit card they offer but the receptionist entered a name wrong and now has to fax it through and play the waiting game. I am peeved to say the least.

Just me! --- 14 years ago -

Yeah it is the same for me. I have just said screw it because they aren't really bothering me right now. I know I will have to get them removed eventually. But right now they aren't bothering me so I am not gonna mess with them.

fattypatty --- 14 years ago -

i have to agree our dental insurance is horrible especially if you need alot of work done I had to get a bridge done and ended up paying out of pocket 1,200 and that is after all of my insurance is used up so on that note Im working on paying for my fillings and other things now

fattypatty --- 14 years ago -

oh but someone said now im not to sure how true this is because its to late now but someone said if i got my work done on the post dental office near the post office called smile or something that they will take the star card?? not to sure how true that is

Tango wifey --- 14 years ago -

yeah its smile care i think they do take star they also have credit lines my root canal and crown are going to be like 800 my share. but that is the place that has caused me so much pain, still in it after a week never happened like this before for me.

KellyP --- 14 years ago -

I agree our dental stinks! It's been a really long time since we have used any of it because it's just too expensive out of pocket, upfront for work.
That CARE credit application is rather hard to get accepted to, I hope all who are trying can get it. It's also good for veterinarian care.

FreeLittleFootFanClub (Mod) --- 14 years ago -

Yup I agree. With how my teeth are affected from all my jaw stuff I paid 5000 out of pocket just last year. We have that bill about every year. Its ridiculous! Luckily this time they were able to get it put as "medically necessary" so Tricare would cover it instead of us paying out of pocket.

LuannePlatter --- 14 years ago -

*Jamie* I would be more worried about IV sedation than pain. Pain can't kill you, sedation can.
I had a root canal done 12 years ago, it wasn't bad at all. When I get my teeth worked on, I request no anesthesia of any kind, unless it's a root canal.
Both local and general anesthesia are
pretty dangerous. Only 3 times the dose of a local anesthetic can kill.
Not trying to be a captain bring down or scare anybody, just saying that a little pain is not fatal.

I wouldn't go to smile care. That place is awful. All of their equipment is outdated and their facilities needs major remodeling. You think with all the money they're making they would take care of that, but I guess they're more worried about ripping people off.

Welcome to ALL of Fort Hood. Outdated equipment and facilities doesn't mean they can't do a good sanitary job.

The IV sedation is for when they remove all 4 of my wisdom teeth at the same time. I am not requesting sedation for the root canal.

I had one done a few years back and I got lock jaw for about 3 hrs afterwards.

that's crazy! i literally just got all 4 of my wisdom teeth out this past friday and was sedated and it only cost me $576 with United Concordia. my dr told me i needed at least 1 tooth impacted (which i did) to be able to be sedated. I had it done at Killeen Surgical Associates off of Stan Schlueter, they are great!

Keely --- 14 years ago -

I only paid about 300.00 I had mine done on the eastcoast.I hate United Concordia does not pay for the everything when it comes to dental : (

εiз R.B.M.P. --- 14 years ago -

yeah but at least they cover a lot of it though.

Keely --- 14 years ago -

That's where I went but they had x-rays so they couldn't just say I had an impacted tooth.
