Have any of you heard of militarygiftingcenter.com ? I saw an ad on craigslist and it seems to good to be true. I tried googling it but I didn't find much out.

Bonnie Im pretty sure they are the same people that put the envelopes on your door step on post. Its a scam. Rule of thumb, if it seems too good to be true, it probably is a scam

It's books, they want you to buy educational books that never run out because they are always updating.

and the free gift you send in could be a box of cookies on up to a trip (lol)

Unfortunately they are people that are predatory on the military. They claim to offer gifts to thank you for your service, all of which differ in an attempt to pull you in. For example, while I was deployed, my wife was pregnant, so they approached her with the "We'll give you over $2500 worth of items such as diapers, etc." Then they show up at your house, no gifts, just a business offer. They want to sell you this new "education system" which consists of encyclopedia libraries, Hooked on Phonics, a medical book, etc. They claim to be giving these to you way below market value (do some research, they are inflating their numbers and you are not really getting a deal, if any). If you get to this part, they make you fill out a form. Then they want you to log on to MyPay and start an allotment on the spot. Oh then they mention an additional one time fee. Then another. This is where I asked the guy to leave. I did not give him his paperwork back and subsequently destroyed it after he left despite his demands that he needs it for "accountability purposes." Oh, the gifts? Yeah, they bring you a computer printout page with random graphics on it and state that they cycle through the gifts so often they don't know what you will receive, but these pictures are examples of some of the items offered. So essentially, you are paying them as a third party to provide you with books you may or may not ever use to receive an unknown gift, if you receive it, to thank you for your military service from people who have never served. This is truly sad as it is just another attempt by people to jump on the usually good and honest bandwagon of supporting the military, but for their own financial gains and purposes. I highly encourage you to not support this organization and spread the word as it appears this does not only occur at Fort Bragg, but at Campbell and Hood.

I just found this on the Better Business Bureau's website. It is not the same company, but the model looks the same.

Thank you for the information. I never participate in any of those types of things, but I know curiosity (and offers of free stuff) gets the best of many. Hopefully this can help educate some and people can avoid these types of things. :)

We didn't participate either, he gave us some bs about he has selected us to receive this great offer and it's not offered to non military families but seeing where he can see education is important to us he wants us to use the system. I said no we just use the internet to look up what we need to or go to the library. lol
