Does anyone here take any kind of migraine meds? I was given a recommendation of three to use and I am not familiar with any of them. I am looking online to read about them, but wanted to know any experiences with them. And I know that every one is different and will react to different meds in different ways, soooo...just looking for a little insight before I decide to take them or not! THANKS!

I was on Topomax and Frova. Did not like either. Topomax is a preventative for migraines, only problem was it made me a zombie and gave me 3x as many migraines.

Frova I tried for a month and it didnt help at all.

I am on maxalt and it works great. I have also had some success with reglan for a little while and when i am in severe pain and go to the ER they give have given me demoral/furinal shots which work too. Good Luck I know how bad it is to live with this crap 

See that's just what trips me up! haha I have tried most recently maxalt and it did nothing, demoral does nothing, (which is really bad for when I have needed it for stitches and oral surgery) so maybe this will give some relief. . .

I was reading about that...a bit worried... I need to get up early for school so...hmm I might save that for the weekend trial..

i didnt like topamax either. I dont think it works at all. They put me on neurotin for mine and it works great 

I use topomax as a preventive , midrin as a rescue if i can't get rid of the migraine after so many hours . It's really a touch and go situation , you have to see what works for you. 

I was on Topomax and it did nothing, never went back to try anything else. 

I never really tried anything else either on purpoe. They put me on Neurotin for my jaw and although it did nothing for my jaw it helped at ton with headaches. I get severe ones. Nothing ever took them away until they tried that and then it was like magic. Only bad thing is it knocks you out real fast.

Neurologist did, but not for initial treatment of migraines, but to relax my muscles so I will stop clenching my teeth at night (which also lead to some of my headaches)
