I have no clue what do do for my husband for valentines... any ideas? lol

someonesangel --- 14 years ago -

Lol i asked this about a week ago too on here!

missey --- 14 years ago -

wow i got on here as a break from just looking online trying to figure out the same thing lol

armywifetms --- 14 years ago -

lol well it's so much harder to figure out what to get a male than a female, I mean there are so many cute things out there but not masculine lol... Last year the hubby got me the best chocolate covered strawberries from HEB, my stomach is saying yay, but my mind is saying stay away, but it's only one day a year right? lol

MommyPancakeNut --- 14 years ago -

I have this question every year. I have no idea. He certainly does not want flowers or a teddy bear. Going out to dinner on valentines day is usually an epic nightmare too! I hate the pressure of having to do something.

We go out the day before or the day after... miss the crowds that way. This year he has to pull out all the stops since not only am I here but my mom, his mom and my grandma will be here too...lol

armywifetms --- 14 years ago -

lol oooh so not only double the pressure but triple the pressure

Every year I get my husband a cd of his favorite band (luck me, they come out with a new cd every year!), and i got him a year of a magazine he is always buying when he goes to the store. i also made him a book on shutterfly of the kids and sent that to him overseas. men are sooo hard to shop for.. you could make his favorite foods and also wow his family with your cooking;-) hope that helps!

Megz (Mod) --- 14 years ago -

usually I get him a card and maybe a video game or something like that. This year he is gonna be in the field. its so weird lol the training starts this week but they get sat off so thats pretty much gonna be the Valentines day for everyone in his unit I guess.

I think we are just gonna use the marriage retreat as our valentines day celebration. its the weekend after for about 6 days and its at great wolf lodge :D im so excited. Ive been wanting to go there forever:D:D:D

so how do these marriage retreats work, are they only for soldiers that go to Iraq or Afgan in groups? my hubby is coming home from Korea from his 3rd tour and I would love to be able to go to one, how do they work?

Restlss26 --- 14 years ago -

we went to a marriage retreat that was given by the chaplain of my husbs unit. It wasnt overnight, it was 3 days like 8-4pm and they provided free child care. we talked about the challenges of military life on marriages and how to make the challenges bring us closer. we talked about turning negatives into positive and having faith. They told us its not the challenges (ie deployments, tdy, stress) that causes problems, its how we respond to the situation that determines our success in our marriage. we did different exercises where we roll played and i was the service member and he was the spouse that was left behind. they did the exercise so that we could understand what the other person goes through, putting use in each other shoes. we also talked about how faith plays a major role in happy marriages. they went through the 5 languages of love and gave us that book, so we could understand how each define love/ feel loved. the book showed how different each person defines love. if we dont understand what things make our partner feel loved, then we cannot meet each others needs. my husband and i have completely different love languages. he needs to be touched, to hold hands, to have that physical affection/attention. i need communication, him to listen and provide stability, that makes me feel loved. it was a really cool experience. i cant remember what else we talked about, but the love language book/ seminar really helped us. it was fun.

lol thanks i just wanna go to Great Wolf.. no i would like the training too but yeah i do want to go there.. i guess we will prob just have to pay and go... and they don't allow pets so that sucks.

our anniversary is so close to V-day, we don't usually worry about it... but then I have the delima of figuring out what to do for that! this year, we're just doing an over night at the riverwalk w/o the baby. we've come to the conclusion that making memories is better than physical gifts.

wow the retreat sounds depressing almost.. i don't think I would want to go.

He'd probably like some pin-up photos of you, just sayin'... :oP

My hubby loves great food, so we usually try to get to Austin for a good meal. Maybe a movie or a show too, if anything good is playing that night.

He probably would but I hate photo's of myself, I don't do good photo's

Vanessa --- 14 years ago -

Is the great wolf retreat free for yall? I looked into it here and i see that it cost money which i thought was stupid because when we were at fort bragg we didnt have to pay for anything.
P.S. about the vday gifts, im getting my hubby a nice robe. He has been asking for one and since its been so cold i think its a good idea. :)

That's what they all say! I'm sure we would have no problem making you look fabulous. It's our specialty. :o)

Vanessa, the robe is a great idea! My husband got one as a corporate gift and wears it all the time. Especially today!

Just so you know the ones that bank with USAA.....You can buy things off there too. :)

My husband and I are getting our wedding bands engravd. We are each going to put a special saying on eachothers band. This will make it our 10th Valentine's Day together, and I do not like to spend the money on flowers (which will die, and are tooo expensive).

Redneck Martha Stewart --- 14 years ago -

Im just gonna make DH some chocolate covered strawberries since weve had a HUGE bill with fixing all this stupid plumbing.

FreeLittleFootFanClub (Mod) --- 14 years ago -

We are not doing a dang thing. I was going to let my husband get his new phone as a birthday/Valentines day gift since he is in need of one bad but now that my family has once again screwed us over we will be using it on a trip to Michigan.
