Ok, so im totally pissed about this! Sorry if its kind of long. My husband got orders to PCS, we are moving at the end of next month. Well the problem is that the date the orders where published is 2 days before we signed our apartment lease, actually he was still in Afghanistan when they were published. Now he didnt get these orders until 2 weeks ago, but now our apartments dont want to take them and want us to pay for breaking the lease. I swear these apartments are NOT military friendly. They have been nothing but rude to us during this whole process. The Housing Liason on post told us to tell the manager to call her because the orders are valid (we took him our lease and he went thru everything) but she refused to call him! There is like 3 different dates on that paper, date it was published, report date, and date that he needs to start clearing. She will not even take a memo from the Commander saying that he just recently got these orders. My husband is going to JAG later, but I have doubt that the manager here will want to work with them. Anyone go thru a similar problem that can help? 

I was just going to say go to JAG. I'm pretty sure you have the ServiceMembers Civil Relief Act working for you here (it's not just for when they are deployed) and he has government orders, can't stop that. JAG is definitely going to be your best bet. Make sure he has a copy of the lease with him. There's really not much you can do but sit on the side and be pissed off right now.

Yeah that makes me more mad, i have been pissed about these apartments for the past 3 days! I hope JAG can help. I have school, kids, the move, I dont feel like dealing with this incompetent person too. She is so rude! There are other people that have had problems with them and not quite sure why these apartments arent blacklisted, they never return deposits, they dont take PCS orders, all they care about is taking money. We have never had these problems with other apartments. Thanks for your help.

Im not sure where you are at but some apartments will definitely listen when JAG gets involved because a lot of posts have black lists. Hood has one, so if they cheat/abuse too many soldiers or there is too much crime at a certain complex/business then they are blacklisted.

because of this they will jump when JAG contacts them so they dont get blacklisted. I hope this is the case for you all.

We are in Fort Carson. My husband went to JAG today to talk to them and they called the Assistant Manager (the manager was not available) and they basically told them that they were going to contact their lawyers. The JAG guys told my husband that what they are doing is illegal, that paper that they made us sign is not even legal. They are going to contact the main company and if they dont reach an agreement they are going to contact the US Attorney in Denver. We are not allowed to talk to them and if they try to contact us, we are supposed to tell them to talk to JAG. It makes me mad how these people think they can take advantage of the military. From reading other peoples reviews about these apartments, they have done the same, but they have just payed it and left. They didnt think we would stand up for ourselves. I hope they do get blacklisted. My husband told me that the Captain handling the case is really mad about what is going on with these apartments.

sadly a lot of people think theres nothing they can do so they dont try to fight it and they get away with this crap for too long. Im glad that JAG is helping you. Just follow what they say and it will work out :D
